Stereolithographic Additive Manufacturing of Zirconia Electrodes with Dendritic Patterns for Aluminum Smelting
نویسندگان
چکیده
Zirconia electrodes with dendritic patterns were fabricated by stereolithographic additive manufacturing (STL-AM). A solid electrolyte of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was selected for oxygen separation in the molten salt electrolysis aluminum smelting without carbon dioxide excretion. Thereafter, 4, 6, 8 and 12-coordinated structures composed cylindrical lattices designed as computer graphics. The specific surface area each structure maximized changing aspect ratio. spatial profile pressure hot liquid propagation dendrite systematically visualized computational fluid dynamics (CFD). During fabrication process, a photosensitive resin containing particles spread on substrate, an ultraviolet (UV) laser beam scanned to create two-dimensional (2D) cross-section. Through layer laminations, three-dimensional (3D) objects successfully fabricated. ceramics obtained through dewaxing sintering.

Hans Christian Oersted first heated potassium amalgam with aluminum chloride and produced tiny pieces of aluminum in 1825. This was twenty years after Sir Humphrey Davy first named the metal “aluminum.” Davy was the first to use electrolysis to produce samples of potassium, sodium, strontium, calcium, barium, magnesium and boron. He tried unsuccessfully for many years to produce aluminum by ele...

The advantage of additive manufacturing (AM) (e.g. reasonable time and expense in prototyping, and reliable product) has triggered the idea of using this method in manufacturing of marine vessels components. The current article tries to introduce basic concepts of AM method and its application in marine industry; have a glance at additive-manufactured parts microstructure; elaborate the challen...
متن کاملImplicit modeling for additive manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology distinguishes itself from more traditional fabrication processes by several significant factors. It allows the creation of objects with complex geometry that would not be possible by subtractive manufacturing or molding. Additionally, 3d printers are of much simpler use than other tools. Finally, since the cost per objects does not change depending on the ...
